2010 Huayu (Mandarin) Enrichment Scholarship is now open for application!!!

January 20th, 2010

The Ministry of Education Huayu (Mandarin) Enrichment Scholarship, funded by the Ministry of Education of the Republic of China (TAIWAN), aims to give scholarship recipients a better command of the Mandarin language, and hence a greater understanding and appreciation of Chinese culture. Any Australian citizen aged 18 and above with an excellent academic record and of good moral character is eligible to apply.

Within the annual award period from every September to the following August, recipients have 4 options for the duration of their scholarship, with these being 12 months, 9 months, 6 months and 3 months. 3-month scholarship is a very popular option for Australian university students, because they can take advantage of the summer holiday from December to the following February, to study Mandarin through the scholarship, and undertake a marvellous cultural tour in Taiwan.

A monthly stipend of NT$25,000 (approximately AU$850) is provided to each recipient. Recipients have a responsibility to pay for their international airfares, tuition fees, lodging/accommodation fees, food, health insurance and other expenses.
